Home Visits

Doctor's bagWhilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling 019755 62253, preferably before 10:00.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to give the Receptionist an indication of the problem, and the urgency, when you call to help enable the doctor to schedule house calls

The doctors do their visits over lunchtime and we would ask you to try and avoid requesting a housecall in the afternoon unless it is urgent as the doctors are consulting.  Housecall requests are at the doctors discretion and for non urgent visits the GP may phone you to determine the nature of the problem and, if your usual GP is not available, the visit may be deferred to the next day when your usual doctor is available.

Remember we cover a very large area and 4 or more patients can be seen in the surgery in the time it takes to do one housecall.  It is not appropriate to request a housecall because you do not have transport to the surgery.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
